Description
Photograph of a detail of a Vischer drawing depicting a cypress grove at Point Cypress, 1867. Only the cypress tree on the left of the grove is standing upright, while the others are twisted and contorted lopsidedly. The trees frame a sailboat with two triangular sails on the ocean distance beyond the grove. The rays of the sun can be seen breaking through the clouds at the center of the picture. At the left of the picture, behind the upright tree, is a small island.
