Description
Rancho Dominguez Historical, Dominguez, 1992. Dominguez School, Kindergarten Building, exterior rear, 21250 South Santa Fe Avenue (at Monroe Street), Dominguez. The legacy of Rancho Dominguez, granted to Jose Dominguez in 1782, beginning with the people and flora of pre-Spanish California. Among the significant historical episodes depicted are a Spanish ship approaching Rattle Snake Island (now San Pedro), the arrival of the railroad, the country's first air show at Dominguez Hill in 1910, the Great Flood of 1914, and the oil boom during the 1920s. The second panel is of the modern Long Beach-Carson area. Acrylic, 2 panels, 106' long, by Joseph Giri. Sponsored by Public Corporation of the Arts. -- Dunitz, Street gallery, 263 p., #47.
