Description In the spirit of contribution, Los Angeles, 1990, La Salle Avenue between 23rd and 24th Streets. The mural is dedicated to the contributions made by African Americans and Latinos to building the United States. The left side is dominated by images from the black history, including an African playing a traditional horn, music legend Duke Ellington, dancer Bill "Bojangels" Robinson, singer and political activist Paul Robeson, Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad, and opera singer Marian Anderson. On the mural's right, prominent Mexicans, such as revolutionary Emiliano Zapata, artist Frida Kahlo, and peasant leader Benito Juarez are depicted. In Nova Color acrylic, 120' x 6-10' by Bernard Hoyes and local high school students. Sponsored by Reverend Cecil Murray of the First A.M.E. Church -- Dunitz, Street gallery, rev. 2nd ed., p. 215, #37.
