Description
Magritte in Los Angeles, Lennox, 1984, Snappy Food mart and Deli, La Cienega Boulevard and Imperial Highway. The mural incorporates art historical references and magic realist figures to create an allegory of human values. The "Everyman" in the center is based on Rene Magritte'a 1957 surrealist painting, "The Ready-Made Bouquet". In Nova Color acrylic on cement panels, 100' x 17' by Noa Bornstein. Sponsored by Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department, IBM, and Chevron -- Dunitz, Street gallery, rev. 2nd ed., p. 199, #3 (photo on p. 197). According to the Google street view image, the mural does not exist anymore (as of December 2011).
