The Doheny Family at the June 6, 1931 groundbreaking ceremony for Doheny Memorial Library. Flanked by his grandsons (Edward L.I. Doheny III (age 14), William H. Doheny (age 12), Patrick A. Doheny (age 8)), Edward L. Doheny, Sr. kneels to break ground at the future site of the memorial to his son (Edward L.J. Doheny Jr.). In the background at left are his wife Carrie Estelle Doheny, his son's widow Lucy M. Doheny, and his granddaughter, Lucy Estelle Doheny.
