Description
Photograph of an illustration of the exterior of San Francisco's new City Hall, ca.1890. The dramatic Romanesque façade of the building takes up the entire length of the image. The entryway is flanked by very large columns supporting a massive overhang. There is a long set of steps leading from the sidewalk to the front door. There are two elaborately decorated towers on the roof of the building. There are three levels visible, plus a flat roof with a guardrail. In front of the chain fence and streetlamps that surround the building, there are pedestrians and a horse drawn cart on the cobblestone street.
