Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Southwest Museum in Highland Park, February 1942. The large, light-colored building is perched on a hill at center. The walls of the building are smooth, giving it a modern look The roof is made of terracotta tiles. At right is a large rectangular tower with a flat roof. An American flag is flying from the top of the tower. There are several arched windows on the top floor and smaller rectangular windows can be seen on the bottom floor. At center, a massive arched window can be seen at center. In the foreground, a grassy hillside is visible, and several trees and bushes dot the landscape.

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
