Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Hotel El Carmelo in Pacific Grove, Monterey, ca.1900. The four story hotel is in the background at center. It is a wooden building with a covered porch and second-story balcony. Small dormers can be seen protruding from the roof near three chimneys. A flag flies from the top of the building, and an American flag is on a tall pole at left. The land in front of the hotel is neatly landscaped with short grass and an assortment of trees and bushes. A horse-drawn carriage is on a bath at center, and several people can be seen on the path as well. Low houses are visible at extreme right and extreme left.
