Description
A moment of serious celebration: African-American, Edwin Jefferson at December 1941 appointment to the Los Angeles County Municipal Court. Attendees included Dr. Warner R. Wright (far left, standing) and David Williams, 1937 graduate of University of Southern California Law School (3rd from left, standing). The group of 15 African Americans (7 men, 8 women) and sitting and standing around a table bearing a cake and a flowered centerpiece with lit candles. The wall behind the group has a closed curtain and two wall lamps on it. All the men are wearing suits, the women are dressed up and wearing flowers in their hair. "Griffin- Siminoff Photo"--printed at bottom of photograph.
