Description
Photograph of an exterior view of Halsey Bank, showing earthquake damage, San Francisco, [s.d.]. People in suits and hats walk along the street in the foreground with a fence containing a field of ruins behind them on the left. The bank stands on the right with broken windows and a large, arched doorway with a sign at its front that reads "K. W. Halsey & Co. Bankers". The tall walls of the bank are heavily damaged with many of its bricks piled on the floor of the interior. The ceiling has crumbled completely. More large, demolished buildings stand along the street further down.

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
