Description
Photograph of a two-story home in Sonoma County, [s.d.]. At center a building is viewed from the front with a sloped roof and covered porch. Large windows are visible on both stories on the front and left side. A round, covered entryway is visible in the center at front. Two women wearing white blouses and long skirts are visible standing on either side of the front door, while a man wearing a suit and cap stands on the sidewalk leading to the front door. A second man is visible standing to the right near the home. Grass is visible in the front lawn. A small circular inset is visible towards the top right of a portrait of a man with white hair looking to the left. The man is visible wearing a white shirt and dark jacket.

Description
The nearly 15,000 unique photographs of this collection contain the work of C.C. Pierce which cover the Los Angeles region city, street and architectural views, California Missions, Southwestern Native Americans, and turn-of-century Nevada, Arizona, and California. Pierce, active from 1886 to 1940, was one of the leading photographers of his day and amassed a collection of 15,000 images, including his own and those bought and copied from his contemporaries, George Wharton James and Charles Puck. The James collection contains over 2,000 images of portraits, customs, ceremonies, arts, and games of various groups of Southwestern Native Americans.
