Description
Photographs of fishing boats in Newport Beach, ca.1900. At left, a group of men and women can be seen standing near the shoreline. A small wooden boat can be seen near them. Two men can also be seen walking with a heavy black box between them. In the foreground at center, four additional men can be seen standing near wooden boats. In the background at center, additional wooden boats can be seen near a small building. Scattered along the beach, at least twelve boats are visible. In the extreme background, a line of buildings can be seen. To the far left, a stretch of water is visible.

California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960
Description
The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
