Photograph of a view of buildings in Los Angeles, showing the Pan Gas building in the background, [s.d.]. Dozens of large, flat-roofed buildings can be seen in the foreground. Several trees can be seen among the buildings. In the background at center, two taller buildings are visible. One of these is the Pan Gas building. In the background at right, several more tall buildings are visible. A low mountain range can be seen across the image further in the distance. Legible signs include, from left: "Paige Co. of So. Cal. Used Car Dept", "Pan Gas", "Hotel Pleasanton", "Home of Western [?]", "Used Cars", "Henry B. Ayers Co.", "The Wade Apartments", "Winslow B. Felix Co.", "Chevrolet" and J. Ben J. Fahy Ford Dealer".

California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960
Description
The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
