Description
Photograph of Main Street in Huntington Beach looking east from the Pacific Electric Railroad, California, ca.1915. The intersection of two unpaved streets fills most of the foreground, with shopfronts lining either side of Main Street further in the background. Horse-drawn carriages park along the sidewalks while pedestrians window-shop. The shadow of something appears to be edited out with scratches in the center foreground.; Legible signs include: " Productive Peat and Seafront Lands with Artesian Water / Huntington Beach Reality Co. / Headquarters for Acreage and Town Lots", "T.B. Talbert [...]", "[...] Electrical Contractor", "Restaurant", "J.F. Corbett C. Real Estate and Insurance", "Peat and Sediment Land.", "Geo. E. Phelps Livery & Transfer / Home Telephone Central Office", "Geo. E. Phelps Cement Contractor", and "See Huntington Beach / [...]ll Show You Free / Peat and Sediment Lands / Richest Land on Earth".
