Description
The flower vendors, untitled, Claremont, 1946. Margaret Fowler Memorial Garden, Scripps College, 1030 Columbia Avenue (at 10th Street), Claremont. Flower vendors are featured in the covered patio along the enclosed garden's south wall. The artist died of pneumonia before finishing the work. In 1994 the college hired a team of conservators coordinated by the J. Paul Getty Museum to insure the artwork's survival. Fresco, tempera underpainting, 9 panels, 100 feet long, by Alfredo Ramos Martinez. Sponsored by Scripps Fine Art Foundation.-- Dunitz, Street gallery, rev. 2nd ed., p. 343, #3.
