Description Photograph of a drawing of a jet rocket in space, ca.1960. To the left, a large jet can be seen extending from the immediate foreground to the center of the image. A single wing is visible extending from the cylindrical body of the jet to the right .On the top side of the jet, a small transparent hatch is seen. On the right side of the body, a small American flag is visible. In the background below the jet, the surface of the moon is seen. In the extreme background, a partial view of the Earth is visible. The description in the upper-right corner of the drawing reads: "The U.S. Missile and Aircraft Market".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
