Description
Photograph of Broadway looking north-east from 10th Street (now, Olympic Boulevard), showing Christmas decorations along the sides of the street, December 1930. At center, Broadway. can be seen extending into the far background at center. Street car tracks line the center of the paved road. On either side of the street, small lampposts line the sidewalk. Near some of the lampposts, small Christmas trees covered in lights and ornaments can be seen. In the foreground at right, a small wreath hangs from the center of a lamppost. Large buildings loom above the street further left or right. Legible signs include, "United Artists", "Texaco", "Southern California Gas Company", and "Radio Supply."
Originally, the image was captioned as "Hill Street north from 8th Street, showing Christmas decorations along the sides of the street, December 5, 1929".

California Historical Society Collection, 1860-1960
Description
The California Historical Society Collection is incomparable for the documentary picture it provides of the growth of Southern California, particularly the development of the Los Angeles region, between 1860 and 1960. The collection contains more than 25,000 photographs. The full archive was placed on long-term deposit at USC in 1990 and includes the Title Insurance and Trust Company Collection, also known as TICOR, and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection.
