Photograph of a view of the reservoir at Midland Ranch on Catalina Island, January 14, 1928. The reservoir can be seen in the background at left at the base of a steep hill. A small wooden building can be seen near the shore of the large body of water, while a windmill is visible above a copse of trees at center. Tall hills covered sparsely with bushes run across the image in the background. This reservoir served as the water supply for the island.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
