Description
Photograph a portrait compilation of the members of the Los Angeles City Council, 1902. The picture is a composite of nine individual portraits arranged in three columns of three: W. H. Pierce, 1st Ward; Geo. P McLain, 2nd Ward; Frank Walker, 3rd Ward; P. W. Powers, Pres., 4th Ward; Wm. M. Bowen, 5th Ward; A. A. Allen, 6th Ward; B.S. Lauder, 7th Ward; R. A. Todd, 8th Ward; and E. L. Banchard, 9th Ward. All of the men are similar in appearance, although Walker has a full beard, Bowen, Lauder and Todd are clean shaven, and Blanchard is bald.

Description
The nearly 15,000 unique photographs of this collection contain the work of C.C. Pierce which cover the Los Angeles region city, street and architectural views, California Missions, Southwestern Native Americans, and turn-of-century Nevada, Arizona, and California. Pierce, active from 1886 to 1940, was one of the leading photographers of his day and amassed a collection of 15,000 images, including his own and those bought and copied from his contemporaries, George Wharton James and Charles Puck. The James collection contains over 2,000 images of portraits, customs, ceremonies, arts, and games of various groups of Southwestern Native Americans.
