Description
Photograph of oil wells in the Signal Hill Oil Field, Long Beach, June 1929. Eight tall wooden oil derricks can be seen on the top of a hill at center. Some of the derricks have small buildings at their bases, and several oil storage tanks can be seen at center. In the distance at the bottom of the hill, the tops of many buildings in a dense city are visible. Utility poles can be seen at left, running towards the bottom of the hill at right.
