Photograph of a view of Catalina Harbor looking seaward from behind Sugar Loaf, 1927. The large rock formation can be seen at left on the tip of a small peninsula that juts into the water from the main island at left. A large, light-colored building can be seen on the peninsula, and it appears that the casino is under construction. A number of small sailing vessels can be seen moored at right, while a large steamship is visible in the distance at center.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
