Photograph of men gathered around an early automobile, [s.d.]. Two automobiles can be seen parked at center on a dirt road. Four men can be seen standing to the left of the left-most automobile. One man is pointing towards the left. Two men sit on the front end of the automobile, while one man sits on the automobile at right. Two men stand in between the automobiles, while all of the men are looking to the left and wear suits. Roads intersecting fields are visible down a hill in the background.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
