Description
Photograph of the first school in Long Beach, California, ca.1882-1884. Nine students and their schoolmistress stand in front of a partially open tent, posing for the camera. One child, at left, stands on a chair. Lines at the top of the image suggest that editing was done due to underexposure of the building.
