Photograph of a map from a U.S. Coast Survey showing the California coast from the Santa Barbara Channel to Point Gorda, 1864. There are five drawings of coastal rock outcroppings or mountains: the first is in the center of the picture at the top and its caption reads, "View of Piedra Blancas W. 3/4 N. (Compass) 4 miles"; the picture directly below that reads, "View of Moro Rock, Estero Bay, N. by E. (Compass) 10 miles"; the one below that reads, "View of Pt. Sal bearing N. by W. (Compass) 4 miles"; the one below that reads, "View of pt. Arguello bearing S.S.E. (Compass) 4 miles"; and the one to the right of that reads, "Lt. Ho. Pt. Concepcion View Pt.". This image compares to CHS-10000, CHS-10001 and CHS-10003; other maps of California coast from same coast survey.; The map shows the coast reaching diagonally across the image from the upper left to the bottom right corner, and includes many place names (from left to right): Point Gorda, Piearas Blancas, San Simeon, Estero Bay, Moro Rock, Pt. There is also a long caption in the upper right corner but it is unreadable as it is cut in half.
