Photograph of cots inside of a room at the Federal Prison at Los Angeles Harbor, June 1938. A dozen cots with neatly-made beds and trunks underneath them can be seen from the left foreground towards the right background. A second row can be seen parallel to the first and is visible from the right foreground into the right background. Round light fixtures can be seen on the ceiling, while windows are visible through grates in the left background. A door can be seen beyond the cots in the right background.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
