Description
Photograph of the front drive of a house at H.W. Mennig's pear ranch, half a mile northeast of Palmdale, in August 1929. A winding drive curves in front of a driveway at left, before the entrance to the house, which stands beneath a small roofed extension. The house is a light-colored one-story structure, and one can see windows and glass doors by its visible side, at right. Several trees spread their branches across the foreground, and one casts its shadow over a grassy lawn at right.

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
