Description

Photograph of men on a rock near an early automobile, [s.d.]. Six men can be seen in front of an automobile. Most of the men are standing, while two men sit on the ground at center. The men are all wearing suits with caps, and one of the seated men has a camera tied around his neck. A seventh man is visible in the right background leaning out of an automobile. Foliage and bouders can be seen in the background.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
