Description
Photograph of a view of Somerset Street in Bellflower, 1929. The wide street runs from the foreground to the background at center. Early model automobiles can be seen parked along the curbs on both sides of the street, while several pedestrians can be seen crossing the road at center. Two-story brick buildings line the street at left and right. Utility poles also can be seen along the road.; Legible signs include, from left: "Plumbing", "Radio", "Jewelry", "S. E. Moore Artistic Photos", "First National Bank of Bellflower", "Marion's", "Restaurant", "Garage", "Chevrolet", "Dentist", "The Gang Comedy", and "Theatre".

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
