Description
Photograph of two people in a yard at the "Twin Joshuas", the ranch of S.E. Moller, four and a half miles northeast of Palmdale, on August 1929. A young boy sits against the base of a tree in the foreground, while an older woman sits on a swing hanging from another tree behind the first. A porch set of sun bathing chairs and an umbrella appear at right, while part of a house can be seen beneath the leaves of the trees at right. In the background, some structure with what appears to be a post and a tank atop it can be seen.

Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
