Description
Photograph of a Yokut Indian woman, Joseppa, and her son, ca.1900-1930. She was the daughter of the chief of the Yokut, Charlie Pinta, and the weaver of tiny Pomo baskets. She is seated, wearing a long plaid dress. Her dark hair reaches to her shoulders and is parted up the middle. Her baby son is swaddled papoose-style on a wooden rack which stands on her left thigh.
