Description
Photograph of a view of a distant Shrine Parade on Broadway looking north from Tenth Street, ca.1923. Broadway is at center and heads away from the viewer into the distance. There are two sets of streetcar tracks in the background that branch out into four sets in the foreground. Many early-model automobiles are parked along the side of the road, and more cars are driving down the street at center. A small number of pedestrians is walking along the sidewalks on the side of the street, and two people are crossing Broadway at center. Tall buildings line the road, and American flags and banners hang from wires over the street.; Legible signs include, from left to right: "Music", "Dancing", "Western Costume Co. Property Department", "Fox Outfitting Co. "Smart Clothes on Credit" ", "Majestic", "Worlitzer Building", "Drink Coca Cola", "The Home of [...]", "King for credit", "Joe Toplitzky Co. 205 N. W. Hellman Bld.", "Auto Park 25¢", "Cryer for Mayor", "Southern California Gas Company", "L.A. College of Chiroprac[tic] Free and Private Treatments Main Office", "99 Year Lease", "L.A. College Chiropractic Clinic", "Best Clothing for Men and Women on Easy Credit Western Outfitters 940 So. Br[oadway]", "Parking Time Limit 1 Hour 7 A.M. to 6 P.M."
