The Pico House and Merced Theatre can be seen on Main Street at the foot of the hill that is partially visible in the foreground, while the Romanesque architecture of the Plaza is seen surrounding its circular courtyard a little farther back at center. The Plaza Catholic Church and Lugo house can be seen in the same vicinity to the left, with the Los Angeles River visible in the background. A residential area filled with one-story homes can be seen to the right.
