The short life of John Doe (La vida breve de Alfonso Fulano), East Los Angeles, 1975. Centro Maravilla, exterior front, 4716 East Cesar E. Chavez Avenue (at North Arizona Avenue). The story of the community of Maravilla, one of the earliest settlements in East Los Angeles, which was originally home to those fleeing religious persecution in Mexico. The tale is told through the eyes of one anonymous old man, who explains to his young companion how the area has changed over the years. Acrylic on stucco, 60' x 8', by Goez (designed by Robert Arenivar. Executed by Jose-Luis Gonzalez, Juan Gonzalez, and David Botello). -- Dunitz, Street gallery, p. 292, #25.
