Description
Photograph of the painting "The Widower" by Sir Samuel Fildes, depicting a working man at home with his children, [s.d.]. The brawny, calloused widower sits in a chair to the right, kissing the hand of one of his sleeping children while his young daughter stands behind the dinner table and holds her dress to her mouth in apparent anxiety. On the floor to the left, three younger children eat and play near a watching puppy. The surrounding house appears to be very much a shack.
