Description
Photograph of the painting "Sappho and Alcaeus" by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema, [s.d.]. A man plays a lute at the right, facing a collection of five women who sit in the ampitheater to the left. In the foremost position, one of the young women rests her head on what appears to be a writing desk, staring intently at the musician. Water can be seen in the background beyond a thicket of tree branches.
