Description
Photograph of the painting "Chilly Cupids" by Aubert, depicting two cherubs building a fire, [s.d.]. Two winged, naked young children stand at the center of the image, a small camp fire between them. The cherub to the left sits on a patch of grassy hill and warms himself with his hands over the fire, while the second cherub breaks a twig across his knee, apparently to add it to the fire. The mottled appearance of the background suggests snow.; Picture file card reads: "Aubert entered the Ecole Des Beaux Arts, Paris in 1841. He became a private pupil of Delaroche, and then passed 5 years in Italian study. He has been an engraver, lithographer and painter, winning laurels and nettles in each".
