Description
Photograph of the Garvanza Hotel in Highland Park, Los Angeles, 1887. A huge, three-story Victorian manor with a multi-leveled roof, spires, shaded porch and third-level balcony is pictured at center, dominating most of the frame. Most of the upper windows feature slatted shutters, which lift out, rather than opening to the sides. Vegetation around the hotel is sparse, although it seems that some attempt has been made to landscape. A tree is visible in the background to the right, while the beginning of a hill is visible at left.
