Description
Photographic portrait of a fisherman launching his skiff into the surf at Avalon bay, ca.1900. A fisherman in a long-sleeved shirt and a hat faced away from the camera, using an oar to push his small boat out into the bay. Smoothed stones comprise the beach beneath his feet, while surf crashes down at the shoreline. A mountain can be seen partially in the right background.
