Description
Photograph of a group of people scattered across an unknown paved street beside several storefronts, [s.d.]. A man stands facing the right with hands on his hips, across from several buildings with storefronts. What appear to be stands used for photography litter the street, while several people stand by several make-shift tentlike structures at left. More people can be seen further back, as can an American flag and still more buildings, while utility poles fly overhead.

Title
Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960
Description
The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
