Description
Photograph of an old Havasupai Indian man crouching on the ground, smoking a cigarette, ca.1900. His shirt and trousers have holes worn in them. He is barefoot. He wears a bandana tied about his forehead and long hair and a ring on the second finger of his left hand. He puffs on a cigarette held in his right hand. His right knee is raised. His left hand rests on his left knee which is on the ground. A few corn husks lay on the sandy earth at his feet. Wild grass and other plants grow behind him.
