Description
Photograph of an oil field on Pacific Avenue, looking south from Venice near Washington Street, January 26, 1931. A street extends from the left foreground to the left distance. Several automobiles (cars) sit parked along the street's left side. Hundreds of oil derricks stand on either side of the street, their peeks visible in the distance. Each derrick is labeled with its oil company's name. Visible labels include "El Camino Gasoline" and "Allstate". Smoke secretes from the bases of the derricks where small buildings stand.
