Description
Photograph of the northeast corner of in the intersection of Fifth and Broadway, 1926. In front of the Sun Drug Co building -- which is pictured at center -- there are several people on the sidewalk, two mailboxes, and a light post. There are two cars parked on the street. In the background on the right is a large building with lighted windows, while on the left is another large building with the advertisement for pianos covering the majority of its brick wall.; Legible signs include "... J. Birkel Co. Steinway Weber Pianola Pianos", "Star Shoe Co.", "How can you dine without a stein of Budweiser Anheuser-Busch Inc. St. Louis Simon-Levi Co. Distributors", Weigel-Rixon Clothes Shops", "Upstairs Save", "Last Days", "Building Coming Down", "Closing out Sale Building Coming Down March 31st", "The Sun Drug Co" and "Dentist". Additional information: The Chester Williams building which rose on that corner has a construction date of 1926. It evidently opened in December 1926.
