Core Title Macoba Photographs

Collection description Macoba, a Maya site is about 26 kilometers east of the small town of Iturbide, in the Mexican state of Campeche. The site had been explored by John Lloyd Stephens with artist Frederick Catherwood in 1841 and served as a Catherwood-drawn illustration in Stephens' book, "Incidents of Travel in Yucatan," published in 1842. ---- Payne Johnson.
