Photograph of life-like statue of Jesus Christ in opening, [s.d.]. At center, a large, full-scale of Jesus Christ can be seen. The statue can be seen wearing a large robe with ties near the chest and a long rope sash near the waist. A large, outer vestment can also be seen covering the shoulders of the statue and extending down to the ankles. Sandals are also visible on the statue's feet. Christ is depicted with his arms outstretched and his eyes gazing up into the distance. The statue has a full beard and hair extending to the shoulders. In the background, a large wall is visible. Branches can also be seen extending at the top of the image to the ankles.

Description The nearly 15,000 unique photographs of this collection contain the work of C.C. Pierce which cover the Los Angeles region city, street and architectural views, California Missions, Southwestern Native Americans, and turn-of-century Nevada, Arizona, and California. Pierce, active from 1886 to 1940, was one of the leading photographers of his day and amassed a collection of 15,000 images, including his own and those bought and copied from his contemporaries, George Wharton James and Charles Puck. The James collection contains over 2,000 images of portraits, customs, ceremonies, arts, and games of various groups of Southwestern Native Americans.
