Description
Photograph of the landscape of Pasadena on Orange Grove Avenue, looking north, ca.1876. The Presbyterian Church is visible in the distance at right, while the Gilmore House and the nearby Holmes House is on the left. Another, unidentified house stands in the center of the photograph, surrounded by the private farming fields. "This was Pasadena to the 'Indiana Colonists' of about 1875. Looking from a point near Arroyo Seco northeast, winding Orange Grove Ave. at right and Bellefountain Ave. in the foreground. House at left belonged to H.G. Bennet, a founder and Pasadena's first school is under trees at in center."--From the L.A. Times 1/24/54
