Description

Photograph of an exterior view of the Los Angeles County Historical and Art Museum, [s.d.]. Stairs lead to the front entrance of the brick building at center. The front entrance is composed of stone designs above three arches, while "Los Angeles County Historical and Art Museum" can be seen etched in the stone above the arches. Three domes can be seen on the ceiling of the building. Plants grow in front of a low wall in front of the building, while two round bushes and grass can be seen in the foreground.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
