Description

Photograph of an exterior view of the Los Angeles County Court House, [s.d.]. "Court House" is spelled in plants across the lawn in the foreground. Behind it a statue is displayed on a large, stone pedestal. The tall, brick court house stands behind the monument at center. A tall tower stands above the staircase that leads to its arched entrance. Plants climb the thick walls on either side. A clock can be seen at the top of the tower.

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
