Description
Photograph of a view of a Craftsman-style house at 1125 South Lake Street, Los Angeles, ca.1885-1915. The three-story, asymmetrical building is at center. A covered porch is visible at right, while several large bay windows can be seen on the first and second floors. A concrete walkway leads from the sidewalk in the foreground to the porch of the house. Several small potted plants can be seen on or around the porch. Another large house can be seen in the background at right.
Note: Originally, the photograph was captioned as "Exterior view of an unidentified Craftsman-style house on Adams Boulevard near Raymond Street, ca.1885-1915".

Description
The nearly 15,000 unique photographs of this collection contain the work of C.C. Pierce which cover the Los Angeles region city, street and architectural views, California Missions, Southwestern Native Americans, and turn-of-century Nevada, Arizona, and California. Pierce, active from 1886 to 1940, was one of the leading photographers of his day and amassed a collection of 15,000 images, including his own and those bought and copied from his contemporaries, George Wharton James and Charles Puck. The James collection contains over 2,000 images of portraits, customs, ceremonies, arts, and games of various groups of Southwestern Native Americans.
