Description

Photograph of a drawing looking across the stage of a proposed Hollywood Bowl, [s.d.]. What appear to be rectangular-shaped structures can be seen on either side of a wide and long expanse of flat land that runs from the foreground into the background. Decorative poles and statues can be seen in front of the structures, while people(?) walk down very long and gradual stairs near the foreground. Mountains are depicted in the background. Photoprint reads: "The verdine stage".

Title Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce Collection 1890-1960

Description The more than 3,600 unique photographs of this collection document the Chamber's promotional efforts during the city's early years. In addition to stock photographs, there are pictures of the elaborate booths and displays that the Chamber prepared for use at state fairs and international trade shows. The photographic collection contains images showing the growth of important municipal enterprises, such as ground transportation systems, aviation, and shipping. In addition there are about 1,000 lantern slides in this collection -- not yet fully digitized.
