Description
Photograph of the first home of the author Jeanne C. Carr and her husband Dr. Ezra C. Carr located on Orange Grove Avenue on the northeast corner of Colorado Boulevard, ca.1895. House is covered in wisteria and roses and there is a large succulent in the foreground. Land was later purchased by city and and called Carmelita Park. Jeanne Carr bought property to establish a resort and horticulture school for women. She and her husband were liberals from the central valley, who were instrumental in establishing the California Grange, and in advocating dress reform and women's suffrage.
